help with damp please

Mother lives in a terrace house, and damp comes through one wall in region that neighbour has a chimney.

builder told her years ago that the chimney was the cause.

neighbour is refusing to do anything on his side so what options has she got in terms of having a nice flat smooth wall?

any help greatly appreciated.

Is it rainwater that is causing it or salts within the chimney you may need new caps on the chimney ,you may need to ventilate if it's not ventilated ,you can hack off the existing plaster and replace with breathable lime plaster or tank it to stop the damp.many options, a plasterer would need eyes on it to give a remedy and to see the cause.
