looking for advice on two things here relating to ewi
my house is rendered and im forever patching it and noticed the ewi system
q1 would anyone see a reason not to do it diy(except the finish coat )
q2 can any one reccomend a north west supplier for materials
I still need to do some reading up and once costed may be to expensive

Hi Tom

I think that you will find that all system suppliers will want a professional (usually approved) applicator to do the work.

you may find some system suppliers will offer you material rates, but these will be very high where regular users / account holders will get better rates.........

There are (or will be) government grants for EWI work in 2013..... you may be better to research these (others will advise some of these scheme names..... there are several)....

Or, if you have a lump of money set aside for this work, state exactly where you are based and some guys will post on here for you to contact (always ask for credentials and references, there are a lot of guys who have done this sort of work, but you will want the best for your own house - I know I would!)

Good Luck!

Richard

cheers Richard
looked into the green deal and seems pointless as in the time it would take to recoup your money
cannot afford to pay a company
big thanks though Tommy

You could possibly get training by a system provider who will then sell you the materials. With training you will know you have fitted the boards right and will also know if whoever you get to apply the render and finish knows what they are doing.

SAS Europe and Weber offer training but they are down South. About £150-180. There is a supplier who maybe able to help in Liverpool, pm me your email addy and I will ask them for you in the new year. As a guide for the materials be looking at £30m2 inc openings and add scaffolding and the cost of a renderer for what you cannot do yourself.
