Hey Guys 'n' Gals, My name is James (jim) and i have been trading as an sparky for the last 15 years, however before this i was a spread... i changed purely because at that time the company i was working for had an opening for a electricians mate and well, things snow balled from there!
Ive kept up with a bit of the trade mainly patching and re-skims and the occasional D&D and damp proofing, anyway I'm hoping to get back into plastering and i have a very large client base to hopefully get work from, but there is a but ... a big BUT? i am no spring chicken by any stretch of the imagination, in fact I'm now in my mid 40's
As I've been on-site I've noticed quite a few changes over the years, especially with the intro of Plasiflex, Speedskim etc? still not sure these are being used to there limitations or it just maybe that some of the guy's I've worked around have been piss poor? but although they are hitting big area's and and flying through more gauges than i ever could ... lets say the standard is not what i would be happy to call my own? Now don't get me wrong i reckon this is the way to go i just think i need to walk before i can crawl.
So what i would like to know from you guys is, should i go to a refresher course with somewhere like golden trowel and get back into the swing, learn speed skim etc, should i just take my time (which is obviously running out :RpS_laugh and plug away until back unto speed or just forget about it and continue as i am? any sensible advice would be much appreciated.
