OK, searched the forum and didn't get a cut'n'dry answer so here goes...

Chimney breast to skim around multi-fuel stove.
Cement board on metal stud construction with areas that will exceed temperature for gypsum plaster.
No problem with priming but...

What high temperature finishing plasters have people used, what were they like and recommendations?

Tile it or would have been nice to finish it as sand and cement but abit late for that.

Boarding covers a mile of pipework (it's a boiler stove) so no choice. There's a large removable centre panel covering the plumbing gubbins. Whole lot needs a nice smooth finish...not sounding too promising...

Yeah, there are a few brand out there (prob same stuff) but I just wanted to know if anyone had used them. So far it's 100% bad reviews!

I tried that stuff though I thought it was Vitrex or something similar, Christ it was like setting with self levelling compound took for ever to go off but that was over their brand floating material and that was like troweling light ag up the wall

Did it come in tubs at fifteen million pound each? Did you not find it running off your hawk no matter how stiff you made it?

Just caulk the board joints or easy fill and tape them. Or victas skim

Damn eu make it difficult , I used it ,no problem but I was trained in Western Europe ,small island off America

I certainly do. So a bit closer to the UK than the US then, very misleading, good job your not the question Master on university challenge, that’s all I can say

Casette stove surface reaches 270 degrees even on a slow burn. Gypsum starts to seriously decompose at 54.

Everyone should have at least one experience with the stuff! Ideally it needs a bit of suction as it hangs for ages even a tight coat, mix it thicker than you would finish.
