How many plasterers do you think there are in Britain?

I just been reading something that said around 40 000. I thought that was a lot but when you consider theres 11000 in the yellow pages then maybe it aint unreasonable.

Anyone heard or read any numbers?
 
i read in construction news a while ago they estimated around 60 000 plasterers, 80 000 joiners and 80 000 brickies. dont know were they got there figures from. and a lot of lads are multi trade so i dont know if they are included in each or what
 
at the end of the day, plasterers are 10 a penny no matter what people say or the press. suchy articles like oh sighn up to outr course because there are only 50% of qualified trades to fill the expecteed demand for the next two yrs = bollix or things like government figures reporting shoratages of skilled men for future growth = this story is a cover up because they trashed the market with manual slaves and they want to try and justify a reason for the influx.

I beleive there a easy twice as many spreads as there are plastering jobs to go around
 
O k so there is loads of spreads but when things are shite like they are at the moment a lot of guys will leave and do somthing else it was the same in the 70's only difference now is we loads of eu workers here looking for the work as us. Now what did gordon brown say british jobs for british workers LOL nobody gives a f**k just get the job done cheap and on time thats the way things are going.
 
100% agree with get it done cheap and on time ........not so much about the eu workers though i swear on my kids life ive come accross 1 polish plasterer and a handfull of dryliners this is bristol area

Not so much skimmin but drylining is an eu trade now in manchester and lpool where i know of two jobs where at least 85% of the workforce are either polish,bulgerian,latvian and two years ago I knew of a job on great ancoats in manc land by an eu development company that would only employ eu trades across the whole job. Its not as bad now but it still awash with chancers up ere
 
That job your on about John, was it great Ancoats street? there was a block of flats near toys r us that was all poles then they let them live in em

It was actually on great ancoats street yes the inner city ring road
