How often do you guys change your scratching pads for mono ? how long should they last. Only done a couple of small jobs with mine and still looked new, lent it to a mate of mine and its come back with the spikes near enough square. Do you bin them once they get so far down or do they still have a purpose ?

I have two going all the time ,one in each hand ,open it up with the new one ,but go over it again with the old one , it my way i,m not saying it,s the right way . Get yourself a few new ones anyway you will use them

Cheers mate, just ordered a pack of ten from the plasterers 1 stop shop !!! has anyone used these guys ? site looks ok but theres no payment method just a notification to say someone will be in touch to take payment details :RpS_crying: sounds a bit suspect to me but well see.

he may of either left his too late which would of blunt them, or your new pad was too sharp and he blunt them on a block.
ive had mine years. a blunt one to scratch back same day and a newish one for the morning after scratches

Deal with them all the time... they are sound.

The scratch pads are a bit like sand paper grades, different sharpness for different walls/hardness etc. I did a next morning scrape day before yesterday on whole side of a detached house cos it pissed down all day half way through spraying on early. Was bricking it leaving overnight this time of year but brought a brand new scratcher, thank god I did. I section wouldn't touch it but the new pad did. Usually use I section, medium pad then quick blunt pad before brush. Arguably a better finish the harder it is but still workable and not drying out on your bead dabs etc

Just had a butchers on that 1stop shop and the i sections are only £11.40.........Mustard price..........:RpS_thumbup:

wait until you got a job thats gone rock hard on you then use em but you can take the heads off on a paving flag. too aggressive when new i think
Thats what i was trying to say about using 2 at the same time .to open up with the new and wear it in and go over with the worn one ,i think someone thought i was giving it large ,only trying to help
