I think you need to turn to religion for that one mate. Only the powers of god could keep the colour of plaster consistent.

eveyone must think im mad, when i plaster a wall or ceiling there are light patches all over, instead of be a consistant colour, do you think i could be the fat dry on the surface, maybe im applying 2 much water when trowling up?

I got this when I did my first couple of jobs. Worked with a spread who told me to cut down on the amount of water when wet trowelling, and thus eliminate any water marks. I told him to mind his own business but secretly took on board what he said  ;D Everything looks much better now
At the end of the day once it's painted it doesn't really matter about water marks and the colour of the plaster but civilians seem more impressed with a consistent shade o' pink and often think you've mastered the art of sourcery....  8-)

a think slap your first coat on flaten it out then mix your second n slap that on trowel up but dnt arse on with it too much then leave it for a while dont keep goin over it once youve left it for while wet trowel it n polish wat ave found is the more you arse on the worse you can make it just dnt panic.

The lighter bits will be where you've filled up with fat.I always first coat flatten in second coat and flatten again while its still quite wet that way your filling in is done with plaster not fat and will dry consistant.Fat's not the best for filling in it shrinks back and drys course.

Refina plaziflex gives you a same coulor finish all over give or take but you got to flatten it in as soon as its layed
