Hi im new to plastering, can anyone tell me the amount of water to add to a 25kg bag of multi finish plaster to make a perfect mix, i asked my tutor and he said it up to me to find out from experience, not much help eh, thanks sid

well that is down to personal taste, personally i dont like salt on my food. i'm more of a chinese 5 spice man

thanks mate, in college we used a massive yellow tub, so when i put the water and half bag of plaster in it splashed all over the place, the bucket was that wide the plaster only filled it by 5 inches, but in b and q they sell tall narrow bucket for about a tenner, have u used them and are they any good, ta sid

Think you better change your college mate, there not even teaching you how to mix plaster, how the f**k you supposed to get it on the wall.

Hi Mate for 1 bag of finish the best mix is:

5 litres of cold water
2.5 litres of pva
2.5 litres of warm water
2.5 litres sbr or waterproof pva
2-4 handfulls of dri-wall adhesive
blob of cream of tartar
teaspoon of distilled vinegar
2 litres of boiling water
and a handfull of board finish

Lovely creamy sticky mix ;D ;D

Cheers mate thanks for pointing that out
it's the main ingredient can't believe I forgot it. ;)

When i started i used to have a bucket with a line drawn about half way up, which i would fill with water to said line and use a scoop to measure out powder so if the bucket took 25 scoops, id get used to making every mix almost bob on. You should know how to mix plaster though if your at collage and your tutor sounds like a knob

Or you could just use 15 Ltrs of H20 per bag,
Not sure where you get it from though & how much it is per litre but someone on here might know ;D

how to mix multi is the biggest problem all us plasterers have to try and overcome.
I did my 1st course in 1981 and i still have problems which i blame my dad for
cos he didnt start plastering till 1955 and taught me everything i know.
My advice would be to get a gold card which is the highest qualification
u can get other than being a sparks or a bar man and PRACTICE

Ask for your money back lad coz your tutor is a knob head. Yes it is up to preference but he should tell you roughly.
Tell him Bruce Willis said he can suck my balls ;)
