Things are getting really busy this end , the phone is ringing like mad , spreads i know are looking for help with there work load , anyone else noticing things are picking up ?

also a roofer mate of mine told me the sites are starting up again and for the first time in months he has a few weeks work in front of him .

just turned down a 75k outside side. they asked be to drop my price. they might be back yet but they aint getting it done any cheaper. its a nice little job for the right money. anyone want it for 65K supply and fix. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

i live in sw scotland havent really sufferd any loss of work but i hear you boys in the citys have been hit bad

doing really really well at the moment...
just booked in the next three weeks...
havent got the foggiest how im going to do it cos the f'ckin van is f'cked >:( >:( >:(
thank god for deliveries and the fact i only need a car boot load of tools per job...
i'm past caring how much im making at the minute anyway...
theres always someone prepared to take it off you at unreasonable rates so why not just live and be happy?

ooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ;D

i used to live in brum 4 years ago and work was everywhere spoke to some of the lads few weeks ago they say its picking up slowly do you never notice though you are either flat out with work or really dragging your jobs out there is never a steady pace

70k m2, £75k? I feel so small! Did 3.5m2 today! Booked up for a month tho and plenty in the pipeline. All the builders, decoraters and kitchen fitters that use me are booked solid so alls well.

Really busy at the moment and ive got about tree months work booked in. Been told I can have some houses off 2 plastering firms if I ever get a bit low on work aswell.

just this minute kb'd a flexcement job in peterborough...
sent him back to ray for an installer in the area...
ive already given the bloke the number of an installer in northampton...
didnt get back to him...
anyone want the job, send me a pm, you can have his number... 30m deep texture drysatck over various substrates all ground floor..

the problem with beeing busy on domestic work is that people want work done within 2 weeks of a quote,=, and gettin in other spreads is a pain as you have to find a good one and then if they dont do the same amount in a day you would have done you lose money on a job! is easy to stick to one man and a lab you always no were you are,. hard at work with a glorified cleaner!

Welcome to the building game, always been this way & I suppose it always will be in the future. We are the 1st ones that get hit and the first ones that start things moving again. Dont spend all your money, keep some under your pillow for the next time.

you've either gotta go big, make big bucks, and get out, or be happy making a decent living, living large when its good and taking the punches when its tough. I wouldn't change a thing!

well ive been ona roll....and its coming to an end ...couple of jobs in the pipeline but nowt from next tuesday........bollox

Yep I've noticed it pick up recently...just when i started my plumbing course! supposed to be going in 2 days a week but have got 4 weeks booked in and potential work until christmas....i'm commuting 2 hours a day for it though, Bristol and back...every other house seems to be having building work done in Bristol at mo, lots of new build happening as well :) happy days!

i dont want to do the big supply and fix anymore, its not much fun anymore so i would say to any of you boys who are thinking of going big, think about it and plan. Employing people is a nightmare, rare to find one who wont take the pi**. The stress from customers is a nigthmare along with endless meetings. Thats why i dont want that 75k job in newquay. got a feeling there come back and ask me to do it so if anyone wants a little job on the coast let me know. you can have it.

Quoted this Asian guy last week when i was down your way , it's a s**t job though all small margins and dwarf walls an windows

he offered me an extra 500 quid on top of my quote last night (1500 quid origionally, said he'd pay 2 grand) seemed quite desperate, willing to pay cash up front for materials...
i didnt realise ray was sending you the peterborough work paul, you could have had another job if id known... kb'd that one too in the end...

No Ray did not give me this, this was an enquiry through my website, i qouted the guy £2k for the back at first based on a phone call and then he wanted a start date , so i said if the job is not as he described , meterage etc then it would be more , so he said could i go and look , i just happened to be Peterboro at bro inlaw that weekend so called round ended up qouting 2.5 k for back 4k for front

Why you kb in these jobs ? it,s right on your door step an worth doin at that , he said he wanted a nice clen tidy job doin, did you see the state of the acrylic and the internal plasteren / covin etc , right bodge

nah, it had just had the cellotex down in the extension when i went, even that looked rough! ;D
I offered to quote for the internals too but he said the builder had it all in the extension price...
judging by the cellotex im not surprised tbh...

too much hassle since the 'stabbed in the back' thing...

I understand what you are saying Ive never been that big on subbing work out its just to much grief if you have the ability to switch off and not let things bother you ,and you get the right guys working for you its a good life and has its rewards, but just happy plodding along now and spending time with my kids, speaking of which one of them have just done a poo ....gotta go .

the firm im on for now seem to have a nice run of work infront of them a load of new nursing homes an student accom in west cumbria so i reckon i got at least 6 months sorted now an the rates are decent 7.50-8 quid float an set an £2.75 skimmin
