The CDM regs have been mentioned a few times on here, so I thought I'd post a conversation today that shows how seriously the HSE are taking it even during the 'grace period' at the moment.

Talking to the bloke at the suppliers this morning about various bits. He said that the HSE now ring them and ask who's bought specific things. Six inch blocks for example, they then get the list and turn up unannounced and want to see what risk assessments have been done, what materials handling equipment is on site, if there's completed CDM paperwork etc. etc.

They're also doing it for anything that's classed as hazardous, such as cement, plaster, chemicals and so on.

They are sampling a range of site sizes, from kitchen refurbs to housing estates.

So if you're having stuff delivered be aware that the information is available to HSE of what you've bought and where it's going.

Good bit of advice there!
Gonna be a Nause trying to sort it out for every job though isn't it. I think I better have a read up while I wait for this bonding to pick up.

The CITB have a free app that you just enter the details onto. That sorts the paperwork side of it, the rest is just a matter of making sure you do (enough) things properly. So you can still balance an 8'x4' on your head whilst screwing it up, just make sure that you have either someone else on site or a board lifter to show if you're asked. That sort of stuff really.
