I am cOncused...need some serious advice on skimmimg

Hi allIv just recently hired some builders who convinced me to take them on just by hearing their talk on how and what they will do n most of all how much it will cost me.The problem I'm facing is that the skimming they have done on a couple of Walls looks to thick and dark,is this how it should be looking???

You want to put some pics up mate, skimming doesn't really go funny colours unless there's something seriously wrong what were they skimming over?

should dry like salmon pink. darker patches will dry eventually depending on the background. How long has it been drying for?
