i know that plasterers should stick to the golden rules of plastering but if you can invent ideas to make it easier for yourself why not. for example i had brought a devil float to one particular job i was on, why i dont know as it was all skim work. i was drinking my cup of tea waiting for the wall to stiffen up and picked up my devil float and just for a moment thought i wonder if this would work better on flatteing in than the trowel. it did very much so no trowel marks at all brillianttttttt. anyone else got any thoughts on this or other ideas :) ;D ;D

hmmm but if you use a trowel they flex so you are not getting the flat finish

A flot will be flat and doesnt flex (hopefully)

correct me if I am wrong

I am still grossly overweight church need to loose another 2 stone. its strange cause i only have a beer belly, my arms, legs etc are all normal, just a bit bumpy arround the middle!

Dont worry them big jobs youve got coming up will sort the belly out as long as you stay off the beer ;D

anyone tried those 40" spates that refina sell. there £100 a go so i bit over priced

I think i know the ones "skimming spatulas" sounds interesting i would of thought they were a must for one coat plasters maybe renders, not sure how much flex is in the blade and how it would work on multi finish but i feel a little to £££££ to try one out , i hope someone will though

excuse my muppetness but are these like a big pool trowel on a pole, you twist the pole and it tips the blade? just smaller than the concrete version? be ideal for latexing floors..

there more like a straight/feather edge Chris

like a cross between a darby and a trowel then? double handled flexi long blade type thing?

ill shut up and go and have a look for one on the refina site... :-[

oasis - go and get some bogroll before you read any further...

couldnt finish with them could you? maybe get large areas flat nicely though..

good for overskims...

Im guessing though?

don't say anything to grand wizard, but, in the blurb along side the pics of these it says "to be used in conjunction with a sponge float"

is it for troweling one coat .........you'd never be able to get any pressure over 6 foot or would you ???

never seen anyone use a spat that big........for finish...is it possible.........for a normal human being?
For you mere mortal southerners no but us Northerners are used to handling big tools ;D ;D ;D ;D

Why would use one for finish they are for opening up one coat then sponge float then finish, when using finish ues a trowel.
