Hi guys just after abit of advice i have a customer with a t&g ceiling they want it insulated and plasterboard. Im in between overboarding with insulated plasterboard or rip t&g ceiling and fit insulation between joists and plasterboard with 12.5 mm.

Depends on the budget, I take t that its the roof ceiling, I would prefer solid insulation. Air gap and the board, is it for noise or heat loss

Loft roll is fairly inexpensive, I would take down existing, hopefully there is not an old ceiling above, if is a void above roll out a layer on top and cross roll another, if just joists space available put in 100 mm and leave air space and extra space around lights especially down lighters,

A lot cheaper with the seperate insulation and board. I'd guess at about half the price. As already said, depends what the budget is. I usually use Quinntherm, same spec as Celotex / Kingspan but much cheaper. From the local builders merchant. Recently did a bungalow, mansard ceilings throughout, and the punter insisted on Kingspan. I'd explained about Quinntherm and Xtratherm but he wasn't interested...Heyho. Got the insulation and board delivered to site from Sheffins. 25 of each. Do it on a price and get Quinntherm and your quids in. Remember to leave your air gap.

Don't know if you've used the gear before. Measure the gap between the joists, top and bottom, because they're never the same, then take your tape and score down the sheet to the widest measure, cut, then trim it into the rafters, or ceiling joist, with a fine toothed saw. You can get a celotex insulation saw from Toolstation from about ten quid. Noticed the difference. Less crap everywhere. Oh, and cut outside on a windy day so it all blows away..:-)
