Internal Insulation Systems

Hi all :-)

Just got a quick question :-)

Would you recommend insulating the external walls of our property (but on the inside) seeing as we only have the option of electric heating.

The walls already have cavity wall insulation but I figured if I am going to go to all the trouble of reskimming the property and the loft conversion etc I may as well try and make it warmer/cooler.

On all the outside walls there are windows etc so I would need to replace window sills and what not its just a thought.

What system would you recommend if any?

Thanks again

Danny

If you were cautious about thermal mass you would say no to internal insulation on solid walls, but if you don't care or understand thermal mass then its ok, one quick space saving way that would suit someone with your skills is trioso super ten, fix it to the wall under tantalised battens ,this leaves room for pipes ,wires etc and then simply board with your preferred plasterboard.

Yeah I dont understand thermal mass... I really need to get clued up on it :-)

I did think about that trioso stuff as we are going to use that in the loft :-)

you have to be approved?

What to do it in peoples homes?

I reckon I am up the standard :-) Looks like a doddle :-)

I think the approval is a good idea...

Firstly for Knauf Insulation, it acts as a good quality control measure, making sure the applicators know what they are doing, achieving a good standard of work - helping increase the reputation of KI.

The approval also goes into more depth of Air Exchange and Carbon Monoxide build up in a property etc. There is a lot more to it than appears...

It is also a good idea for the contractors. It means you can approach a customer with one of the biggest names in Insulation and say you are an approved contractor. Massive selling point over someone who doesn't have this. It gives the homeowner a bit more security and piece of mind. It shows more professionalism.

Although the system is easy to apply it's the background info that needs to be taken into consideration.

It is a doddle Danny, i had a day off to go to a thermoshell demo at Sheffins, as it was local and the job i was on could have used it. The process was easy enough, when asked if i could set up some terms for the gear i was told i couldn't get it as i had to go and do the course, Thats another days graft lost plus £150.00 for the day, to be taught to suck eggs :RpS_thumbdn: other than that it looked like a good system.
