Ive got a room in and old property to render. The room is sodden with damp the cause of which has been rectified. As the brick is so wet i would have dried out with a de-humidifier but it is a bit of a rush job. I am a bit concerned about sand/cementing with a waterproofer onto the brick while it is so wet. Any advice?

i've seen soaking wet block dabbed and it can cause major problems afterwards - black sooty mould that keeps growing back - no matter what you do! My advice would be hang out for a de-humidifer if you think the wall will dry out and stay dry. The problem with waterproofed s+c is that it will keep the wet in the wall - if not through the surface of the wall - how is going to escape/evaporate - you could be effectively locking it in.

Rush jobs - quick to do at the time - long time on £0/hr plus materials trying to sort them out! Is it worth it? The quickest way in the long run is the right way! Maybe one to leave to a chancer who doesn't know the consequences! ;)

Do you have to use a waterproofer? If so do you have to use a waterproofer that has been specially supplied, as some waterproofers actually allow water to evaporate through from the back ground, a bit like a breathable waterproof jacket.
