Hi

I have been reading threads (as many as I can a day) and more and more of the threads are getting very complicated....

Insulation all these render products and then theres machines... oh boy....

Maybe its because I am not on the tools any more but it does appear to be getting more complex...

never used a machine to plaster to be fair( but would love to have a go be shown etc) but then i AM a PLASTERING MACHINE LOL

That's a different kettle of fish you just want to know how the ******* thing works before you worry about what you're putting through it :RpS_crying:

If you listen to radio ads, they keep spouting about getting an apprentice, as they keep your business at the cutting edge of technology by what they learn at college, however, they still dont learn about the new renders on the market or use a machine at college. surely these new products should be taught at apprentice level so that we are all kept abreast of new products

Maybe so, but the government wont help out much with the cost of employing an apprentice though. I think its about 2k pa to help with costs. Worst thing they ever did was get rid of proper indentured apprenticeships. So much knowledge has been lost with the old boys leaving the trade before being able to pass on their knowledge. New products are great, but im fecked if i wanna learn off an apprentice!
How about some sort of business development loan at a decent rate to help small businesses move with the times instead. Reckon ive got more chance of becoming pope!

the thing is the rendering world has moved on so much in the last few years, with better advancements in technology etc, with the upgrades in part L regs thermal insulaton, acrylics etc, and more manufactorers in the game other than Sto.

i did my apprenticeship 12 years ago and there was no thermal, mono, machine work. we only covered sand and cement and pebbledash externally. Now i havnt done any sand and cement work in years.
