S a plastering

Private Member
had a spec off a builder for some damp work its only one wall penrtrating damp which has been sorted anyway here goes hack the plaster off then coat with bitumen stuff while wet dash it with grit sand obviously for key then gypsum plaster over the top i might be right but i aint heard of that one

Ive seen that I had to do it but they forgot to add the sand needles to say it all fell off and we redid it with bonding lol

I just dont like this throwing sand on bitumen affair. It all seems a bit ad hock, and chancy that anything will stick.

If it has to be a gypsum based product, it can only be BG renovating plaster, similar to Limelite products.

Personally, we would hack off, rake joints to 10mm depth.Treat with anti sulphate solution,re plaster with either lime lite/renovating or sand and cement with an integral waterproofing admix, then skim.

Usually you would bang a coat of S & C on first - without scratching up - otherwise it would be a nightmare trying to fully seal a wall with bitchy........... wait until the S & C is dry enough to take the bitumen and throw some DRY sharp sand onto the wet bitumen for the key. Soft brush over it the day after to remove the loose sand and you have a base to work on.

It worked well enough for years, its easy to do, just take the dosh and go, just wear old clothes, its a twaz , and sticks every where.

Aye JJ you're right there mon, and take them to a launderette when you're done - or deny all knowledge when the missus finds spots of tar on her washing :RpS_thumbup:
