Iv been rapidly picking up on internal sand and cement backing out, i always remember RICH BROWN saying its all in the mix, mix has 2 be right ect

now i have the perfect mix and find the job 10x easier to do! its just like saying on hardwall now

i used to use say TP plastering sand x4 1 cement and 1 splash of waterproof er for a scratch

now i used say 2bags of TP plastering sand to 2 bags of TP building sand 1 cement and 1 hydrated lime small batch of fibers and a dash of waterproof er,
this seems to work so well and lets me apply the render so much ticker as to when just using TP plastering sand and cement on its own.. i used to do old walls in 3-4 coats! now anything within 2 sets

very happy man now, dint ever thing id manage to do backing out but when u look back 8-12months ago things can change.

There aren't many backgrounds you should be using a 4:1:1 mix for internal work and you really shouldn't put S&C on more than 16mm at a time. Hopefully you're only finding it as easy as Hardwall to apply and not trying to get the S&C to a similar texture to Hardwall as I've seen some do in the past. But all said it's good to hear you're getting the hang of backing coats. 8)

ill post a pic of the last one i did.. i allways fort inside out side all ways a strong 4-1 scratch? is 5-1 ok then?

Here is a typical internal wall for what i do, so 4-1- to strong? i try and use a 5-1 or 6-1 as a top coat now?

Its all in the mix

i reckon the mix sounds alright tbh, the building sand and lime'll weaken it, if youre using lime i dont know if youre better off pvaing it before skimming it im not sure youre meant to mix lime and waterproofer mate

reali? the lime seems to make the mix so nice a fluffy and easy to use. also i hair it helps reduce cracks? gives it some flex? i dont know but when is a good and bad time to use lime?

dont use it in the same mix as waterproofer ;D from what ive learnt stick with what you know best and if it stays on the wall and doesnt crack keep doing it

i've read elsewhere on this site not to use lime and waterproofer, only use one or the other. i've also read on here not to use building sand as its prone to cracking.

this is only what i've learnt from here fella

Building sand varies greatly, I always use building sand for my internal work but I'm very fussy which ones I use. If you choose carefully it can be loverly to work with and not suffer from cracking, I would rather use my S&C mix than bonding, browning or hardwall any day of the week.

Ok well if I drop. The waterproofer will it still be waterproof? Also iv been useing and all in one freeflow mix, was just lying around on a job

Waterproofer pulls the mix to gether to make it watertight, lime seperates it to make it light and fluffy, so using the 2 fights each other.

building sand is full of salt and all sorts of shiiiiiiite. easy to use though. well done!!!!!!!!!!!

I can only say that I've done about 700 houses of F&S using building sand without any comebacks so if chosen and used correctly there's no problem with it.

so what is hydrated lime used for? and would it be ok in inside and out side work to do a scratch coat with sand cement and waterproofer then top coat sand cement and 1 lime?
