I just recently booked a job in to reskim and cove a small living room.

The woman had stripped all the wall paper off and damaged all the plaster boards taking off most of the paper.

I was going to WBA all the walls and ceiling then skim and put up the coving.

I was charging a bit extra for the cost of WBA and went in at £380.

Now, I thought this was a fair quote and she accepted it. She has now text me a few days later to say her

husband has got somebody else to do it for £300.

I dont like being messed about like that and dont apreciate being sent a text.

Was my price too much because it would be a push at £300 surely?

Oh well,

Win some lose some i suppose.

Hello Mate
I think your price was fair and I certainly would'nt do that for £300, can't be making much once you knock matts off and if he does it properly he will have to go back once the plasters dry to fit the coving, at least they let you know I have had jobs where they have changed there mind and not had the manners to let me know

Yup me too! I normally let people just get on with it.

I never drop my price.. my price is my price a little anal but I dont like price wars

don't think any of use would be happy that happened. there are some right arsenholens out there. had a job booked in for a monday got a call sunday 7.30 sorry we don't to proceed got cheaper quote.. annoyed agreed. but i think you got take rough with smooth. same as the others price your jobs according to how long you think job will take and what you think your time/knowledge is worth. the other way i look at it is if you price 100 jobs and get all 100% your probably too cheap. 65% your probably in the right area/competitive. and if you don't get any your either asking too much or your reputation isn't too good. ;) like all in life its about percentages.. hope you and all of us can keep ticking over.. ;D

I have no issues with some one not accepting a quote or even calling me back an saying sorry got some one cheaper
it's when you have agreed a price (after a bit of a barter) and turn up with the gear to do the job, and it's been done !! that is my only issue

agreed sorry. i think a verbal agreement should be honoured.

that is poor that warrior, did you get any money back? i tend to get 95% of the jobs i quote i i try to get £150 a day at the moment on domestics, but i got 2 artex ceilling to do this week and i charged £250 fo a day its not bad but i will but bollo x ed after

oh and regarding your cancelled job by text island i would have gone mad mate, what did you go in at-
£150 p/day x 2 = £300
£80 mats .....???

the other guy prob gone in at £120 p/day to get it down to £300 f.u.k it mate plenty of domestics on go at minute.

I live in leicester, lots of our asian cousins live here, they apear to be the worst!!!
Have never had one on the day but plenty day b4 or after i bought all the materials and got all prepared for it.
Is not a real problem on a small £200 job,but on 2-3-or more days work you can be well ouuta pocket cus u turned down other work for them.
Its all part of the plastering game though boys,i mean come on be honest......how many of you have not turned upto do a quote for 1 reason or another, now think about it...the customer could of been waiting in all morning or had to have the day of work etc etc .Its swings and roundabouts.

I certainly wouldn't be very impressed if I had bought the materials and I would have a thing or two to say to them on the matter along the lines of your some sort of c**t arnt ya?

Clint
