Hi guys and gals, (wishful thinking) Just a quick note to say hello really. Name is Paul and beavering away in he midlands area. Interesting day today. Priced a job last week to skim ceiling and chimney breast. Arrived this morning to find the key where it should be and a note to " The Plasterer" Help yourself to Tea/ coffee and please be careful with the new carpet? you got it brand new burgundy red carpet down. I left a note and went home.!!
 
i dont blame you.
now if they teft the money and a note then i might have done it

Thanks to you all for the warm welcome. Spoke to the client today and they seemed a tad upset. I`ll just pass on that job and wish the next bloke "best of bloody luck"

u think thats bad i done a wall in a rented house i had one insulated board wall to do there was two polish guys in bed in the room fast asleep the worked nights my boss says work away so i did the never woke up the whole time there feet were hanging out of the bed so i had to watch not to touch off them as the wall was close to the bed
 
it could have been worse. they could of been hanging out the back of each other....................:RpS_wink:
 
I priced a bedroom ceiling for a bloke while his missus was asleep in the bed :RpS_lol:

I was tempted to stand on the bed just to test the ceiling for 'soundness' or something :RpS_sneaky:
 
LOL. yeah it's funny how we kinda assume they know how it's gonna be done..............and how long they think you're gonna take :RpS_wink:
 
I always make it clear the room has to be empty. If for any reason certain items can't be removed I ttellthem exactly where to put them. Nothing worse than loads of furniture in the middle of the room so you cant skim the centre of the ceiling
 
We were left two foot all around the room as the ceiling was not been done and carpet been binned, got the guys to empty it anyway.

Ahh yes the old bunk bed & wardrobe in the middle of the room trick, great when overboarding lath & plaster ceilings on your own. :-)
It's a good job I charge footballers wages otherwise I'd tell them to get fcuked :-)

I was ask to tack and skim a ceiling in this womens kitchen/diner, no problem did the job , and she ask if I could tile the floor in the kitchen part , no problem, did the job . couple days later she ask me to go round as she had got the lovely new thick pile carpet put down in the diner area and could I put down a metal strip between tiles and carpet, no problem , put strip down ,start to drill holes for raw plugs ,next thing she's scream's drill bit has caught a thread on the carpet and starts to alravel it , it was like watching one of them dominos tricks when they knock each over, thank God id been payed !!

has we looked down at this bald patch on this truly lovely large shag pile carpet, with her going on about it being such a perfect carpet and how ruined it was, I being one of those people who carry around in my head a load of useless facts and information decide to tell her that the world famous Iranian carpet makers always leave a few threads undone in the corner because they beleive that allah is the only one that does things perfect, when that didnt seem to calm the women down ( i call her a women now because she wasnt at this time using very Lady like langauge) I decided it was time to leave after I ask her couldnt she buy a large rug to cover the bald patch, she replied with the same words two exwifes said to me as they were showing me the door! Well I learn a life leason that day! Always have alook before you put yer bit in the hole :RpS_biggrin:
