hey plasterers forum. this is a little bit about me and my work history with plaster,
I got a random job through craigslist for a decorative artist who needed a mixer, I spun buckets and prepped surfaces for a year before I put a trowel on the wall. Mostly using USG diamond veneer and Texston marmirono, grassello in commercial spaces. 3 years and thousands of sq feet later job I got the opportunity to join the local union fastracked as a journeyman where I am now currently in my second year.
Im still unsure if i made the right choice, There is lots I dont know about conventional plastering and Im struggling to keep up with the old heads specifically doing ceilings. The money, hours, and locations, with the union are much better but ive mostly just been working with joint compound and gauging and miss working in luxury spaces doing wild finishes.
I love the forum and the wealth of knowledge it contains and thats why I am here. Ive been laid off from a hotel job, where I was patching the honeycombing and imperfections of cast concrete ceilings since April 3rd bc of the virus.
