Just saying hello

Hi everyone,
Thought I should introduce myself before I start bombarding you with questions.

Not looking to plaster for a living as only want to do my own house.

Already down a couple of walls, one of them I was pleased with.
Took ages bonding it first using bits of wood and straight edge and then finished with multi finish. Very hard work for a 62 year old, only half a bag per coat but chasing my tail before it goes off, came out ok couple marks where I keep banging my float on the applied plaster.

then did small ceiling again halfbag per coat, half way through first coat and thought my arms were going to fall off, got second one on and thought I was going to die, got it done not as good as my wall but looks ok painted.

hope that’s not too much waffling.

62 - ok
Its not a job for the faint hearted.
There's no other trade like it.
You can't just down tools and stop, (until its job done)

'Starting' at that age, 1/2 a bag a time is about as much as you'd want to do anyway.

On your own house, control the suction as best you can, and then relax don't panic, so 1 wall/lid at a time. Also (at 62) If you can get an extra pair of hands to help with the mixing and you could focus on the job more.

Hope you mean trowel and not float

Hi Michael.
In all seriousness you're probably going to devalue your house by more than it would cost to do it properly, and possibly cause yourself an injury. Especially as the ceilings and walls I assume are only going to get bigger.

You are definitely a tough crowd.
Should have thought about this before posting

probably shouldn't have added the pictures, but if it amuses you I don’t care, quite pleased with the results myself.
