Hi all,
I have a customer who wants k-rend ft on his new block work garden walls.
He has bought the base coat to go with the ft top coat.
I haven't used the ft before so my questions are
Do I use the same scraper as with normal scraped k-rend?
Can I lay on the ft with a trowel finish or does it need to be floated and then scraped?
When applied on to k-rend base coat is the setting time same as 2coat same day k-rend?.
Thanks for replies in advance

Hiyu,
Yes I've done a fair bit before but not used the ft so a bit unsure of the finishing method compared to your usually k rend

Normal scrape krend ? Erm That will be ft....

Yes use the same float as you use with Amy scrape render. Remember its monocouche no matter what brand.

Trowel it on and spatch it that should do for a garden wall. Personally I never leave any mono just off the trowel - why make the scrape harder process....

It should set same the HP base will hold it a little but nothing serious

Supposedly the ft is I finer version of krend giving a sandpaper type finish?

Yea what I meant was ft is their forerunner , their flagship product the one nearly everyone uses. The other krend scratch renders such as commrend ,and wp etc are not widely used.

You have to hand apply ft. Are you usually using wp or commrend ?

its piss poor is ft compared to other renders aswell, if its a garden wall seal it aswell on completion, as k rends a bugger for greening,

Cmon lads my geezer reputation will be going down the swanny here.

Nah but if ye can help its helpful. We all need a bunk up sometimes

Thanks for that, to be honest i don't know if its been wp or ft I've just mixed it and chucked it on the wall and scraped it back but this guy has been told by jewsons that the ft is a non scrapped finish and that's why asked as I assumed it was something I hadn't used.

Thanks everyone for your help,

Thanks everyone for your help,

First rule in construction....

Never take practical advice from the merchant they are there for one thing only...to sell you gear.

Use a short tooth worn in scrape float and an I section just like before

Ft has got to be done in 2 passes wet on wet, you have to move quickly, then scrape back. Make sure your second pass is thick enough otherwise you will scrape back to the first and get a halo which looks terrible. It's crap material to lay on by hand like applying lime render the sand is course.
