Hi Guys,

New to the forum and would appreciate your help.

I have an ugly semi-detached house which has painted external brick work and I'm looking to modernise it by using some kind of K-rend or other colour through product.

I don't intend to do the work myself, but as we are working to a budget, I might be able to do some of the prep work but don't really know what the best options are. Should the paint be removed by shot blasting, stipple gun or paint stripper (it sticks like **** to a blanket and is quite rubbery) or should a mesh be fitted to the wall? If so what type? stainless steel, fibreglass, galv?

Any ideas or rough prices would be great.

Cheers

where abouts are you ?there are various renderers dotted around the uk on here that will be able to offer you advice

You need to test the paint to see if it's oil based and that will give you a direction to proceed. Get a blow rich like plumbers use and burn the paint if it bubbles like when your doing an old door it's oil based. If it just chars it most likely water based which can be rendered over with Parex parinter.
