Hi Everyone

I'm after some opinions of different types of render. This is for a house (part brick and part block). Initially I was after K rend however after hearing this is not one of the better products I was recommended Parex as a better alternative.

Now I have also been quoted for one of the Jub thin coat self cleaning renders. So what's your opinion on them? Which would you use if you were doing your property? Is there something else which you would recommend instead?

Thanks
Greg

self cleaning brickwork for me , render looks ok for a bit , but cracks or looks dirty or washed out over time, or even all 3 , its ok but im not fond of causing myself grief and hassle .

Hi Greg,

Firstly it depends on what finish you are looking for. K-Rend, Parex and other manufacturers can offer either a scratch render finish or a thin coat system. Both of which differ in appearance and performance.

We believe one of the best systems for you would be a Thin-coat Render only system consisting of the following:

1. Primer
2. 10-12mm fully meshed Basecoat
3. Primer
4. Silicone 1.5mm Top Coat

We provide the Mapei Render only and Insulation system, it may be worth looking at both options. The insulation system will decrease the heat loss you get from the house. The top coats for both systems are exactly the same.

If you would like to discuss this in more detail please so not hesitate to get in touch on 01242 236699 or I can be reached on my mobile this evening on 07891460532 and would be happy to help.

Also where are you based? We can also recommend contractors in your area to carry out the work.

if its a open type stipple , type bobble, type broken brick affect looking render it will trap dirt and shite like bees round a honey pot and if your house is facing the wrong way it will go green in a way thats not eco friendly , call me if you want some decent brickies

For me the Jub or Mapei system. Quite a bit of polymer in them and either a bucket coat or paint, both with a bit stretch. At the moment I would be preferring nano based paint as I reckon it will look cleaner for longer over a textured finish.
