Hello All,

New to the forum but I have already figured that @Runswithscissors is probably the best person to answer my question!

I have got a small area of a 70's timber frame house where I want to remove the rotting wooden planking, board over and render. It is only 14 m2.

I was looking a Heraklith but it looks like aquapanel may be more suitable? Can anyone recommend suppliers? Also what is the best method of fixing to timber wall? I understand that I need to baton out from existing ply.

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt

Thanks for the Tag pal (see that you have done a search on here, or via Google, and found some initial info), and yes Knauf Aquapanel Exterior would be your best option for backing for a render finish.....

Where are you based? I can then point you at local stockists and if needed get a local Knauf Sales Person to contact you.....

Are you a renderer? if you want someone on here to give you a price for the rendering (no such thing as a job too small for these guys....) put up a means of contacting you - usually an e mail address is best, you can ignore later mails - you will also get guys dropping you private messages on here, so say if you do or do not want that (the message box on here fills up quickly as a new member...)

You can find the Knauf Aquapanel Exterior Brochure in my signature below. If you want to contact me directly, click on my forum name (top left) and click view profile and then you will find my contact details on my profile (one of the tabs....)

Good Luck

All the best

Thanks Richard!

I am in Inkberrow, Worcestershire. Yes I also need to find a renderer, as above it is 14 m2 and ideally in k-rend as I have heard good things about it. If anyone would like to quote my email is [email protected] thanks :-)

I also saw that wickes have aqua panel but it sounded to be more like tiling backer board from the description!

No Bob

They are Aquapanel Interior boards - for tiling only! All of the Wickes boards have a sticker on them stating Interior Tiling only.

The Knauf Aquapanel boards have "Outdoor" and "Indoor" printed on their face - but I think the Wickes ones have just Aquapanel and a sticker on them....?

Knauf Aquapanel Exterior is slightly heavier and is tested for external environments (freeze thaw tested, impact tested, wind load tested, BBA assessed, etc.) where Knauf Aquapanel Interior is lighter (and therefore slightly cheaper) and is tested for interior use only.

If you want Exterior boards, go to the specialist Knauf distributors or builder merchants - the likes of Wickes are targeting mainly the DIY and interior only market with drywall products.

If you want more info on local stockists, contact Knauf on 01795 424499 (during office hours) and ask for the local sales person for where you are based

Good Luck!

Richard

The K Rend thin coat systems have been tested and approved for use on Knauf Aquapanel Exterior - also BBA Assessed together!

I am sure you will get some local guys contacting you - always ask for reference sites to look at and you might want to contact K Rend for confirmation of the renders they approve onto Knauf Aquapanel Exterior.

Good Luck!

Ryan @Plasterers1StopShop is based in Cheltenham, near Worcester, and is a stockiest of Knauf Aquapanel Exterior and I think K Rend - as well as being a Plasterers Forum Sponsor!!!

I am sure he will help as well....
