Tried this today for the first time.

Must say it went on like a dream, the spat worked better than a trowel on multi, but I had issues with trowelling up.

I ended up waiting and sponging/spatting to get it right.

I'm guessing thats the way its done with knauf finishes?

Anyone well versed in this type of board finish?

I ask because it covers much better than BG and I can get it for the same price per bag, hence its cheaper!

Hi CeeVee

Glad you liked using it and find it cheaper in the long run!

As I am sure you have read, I am not a plasters expert - If you want to have one of our Knauf Technical Instructors to call you to discuss the application further, or just to chat through what your doing, give me a call or drop me a note with you number and I will arrange for someone to contact you!

Thanks for the positive comments!

Knuaf will send a spread armed with materials and lay it on and finish for you. Free labour if anything!

LOL

No they won't...... demo's of specific products in order to ensure the guys know what they are doing and are comfortable (especially on a big project or with lots of potential - I'm sure you guys put more effort into winning bigger or more profitable projects as well!).......

An offer to have a chat on the phone with one of our TI's, or one of out Technical Guys or Product Specialists on the phone is no problems! If it then calls for more site assistance, this can be assessed and sorted if needed....... (I'm always available to help with Knauf Aquapanel Exterior as a product specialist).......

It is called customer service! Something we try to perform well at (note the word TRY.... before you guys start - LOL)

RWS are there any merchants that stock your plasters in Essex so I could at least pick up a few bags for a trial?

Been using knauf board finish for over 12 months and myself and all the lads who work for me love the stuff, took me about 3-4 days playing around trying different methods of troweling to get it to work for me, you get bout 15 -18m2 a bag it hangs more than multi so you can getter larger sets on. we lay on ,quick flatten before laying down 1st trowel with no water (trowels up like a dream) let it pick up then 2nd trowel with hard cross with water and quick flash to finish. (dont use plastics or spats just steel trowels so cant comment on them) it helps to fill out tapered edge boards and beads ect with 1st bucket as i find it doesn't fill out as good as BG plasters.

Yeah I emailed technical at Knauf...they called me but i missed the call. I'll give you guys a try tomorrow RWS.

plastamasta, what I found was that after the first trowel (flattens like a DREAM with spat) when it came to trowelling up it just tore to pieces. I think I hit it too early, so just waited and waited before sponging and spatting.

Just how nicely this stuff goes on has 'wet my whistle' enough to find out how to finish it properly.

Well that's what the rep told me, his name was Eddie. I had someone booked in on a job but we finished it early so I cancelled him. Maybe Eddie was a liar! Da da daaaaaaaaaaaaaaar uh oh. Anyway I would have tried it by now but no one stocks it. Perhaps knuaf would sell more if there products were on the four court, I'm keen to try mp75 also.

Well..... if that is what you were promised ....... Give Eddy another call. I'm sure he will be happy to halp with an MP75 demo as well!

It is a kind of chicken and the egg situation with the dists and merchants stocking...... if they know the plasterers will buy it they will stock it...... They are all afraid of stocking products with shelf lives, when they don't have regular buyers.....

If you know that you have work on and will be using so much material over a certain period, tell them and they will hold it for you knowing you will be taking it...... If you don't let them know, you can only buy what they hold for everyone else....

it will tear if you put too much water on it get it flat dry and when gone give it a cross trowel

Nailed it.
Called a tech guy (thanks RWS) and he talked me through it.

This stuff is awesome. MUCH more coverage for only 20p a bag more than BG at my local....MUCH less trowelling required....nicer to apply....and a refreshing change.

This is my plaster of choice for all boardwork from now on.

Anyone know if you can do reskims with it?

Nice one CeeVee...... give the tech guy another call if you need more info and about re skims (although I am sure there will be some comments on here soon as well)

Anyone else want help or assistance or info about the Knauf MP Finish (or other Knauf Plasters) get in touch with QUINNS on here (his details are on his profile).... or me.... or give our office a call and ask for technical or your local sales person.....

Good Luck guys - find something that works for you and spead on.............

Ive just been given some bags of Knauf MP Finish to trial, never used it before, but if its good gear then BG can stick it.

you will think its flash setting on you but it can still be trowel once its starts to darken so dont panick

with knauf finish do u guys do the same as with mp75 where you get it to a stage and then start your next hit, and dry trowel it later?

we just do one massive hit with gaps in between rooms, so you could say lots of little hits???? its not really a hit though as its only been mixed a minute before it hits the wall all the time, so it only just going off as you progress round the rooms

Hi mshawplastering

search the forum members for QUINNS (Main page, Community, Members) his contact details are on his profile - he is the guy you want to contact for info and help.....

Or contact the office 01795 424499 and ask for sales - they should advise local stockists for specific products or put you in touch with the local sales manager.

Good Luck - any problems go to my profile and give me a call during office hours (leave me a message over the next 3 days and I'll get back to you)

Can MP finish be used over any backing?
Is it applied/finished the same as Universal board finish? Or is it the stuff you sponge/spat?
Is it one coat?

Hi mshawplastering

Have you tried SI in Tonbridge? if they don't have it in stock they can get it in for you, as 'Runswithscissors' says if a distributor / merchant knows what you wany they will get it for you and continue to have stock on the ground.

Any problems contact me direct, number on my profile page.

Don't quote me mate as ive not used mine yet, but the rep informs me that it was designed for machines but can be hand applied also, in two coats. the jist of what i got from him is that you put your 1st coat on and trowel flat with no water, this apparently needs to stand then for about 40 mins, then 2nd coat and crack on as normal. Like i said not had time to try mine yet so just hear say.

Says on the bag that it will cover other backgrounds other than board.

only used it a few times. s+c it pulled in so went straight over. reskim was a bit wierd coz the gear doesnt fill out well at the best of times, let alone when theres is little or no suction. so it hung for ages. i dont no if it was 40 mins but we had to let it stiffen up a bit.

ive never 2 coated it its a one coat machine plaster so treat it as that if hand applying just put it on a bit thicker.
