Hi all, went to look at a job earlier and the builder told me it has to be Krend and they have been given a spec for a base coat over 7 Newton blocks then top coat, I hardly use Krend but always just went straight over 7s with out base coat with the stuff is this the norm with Krend regarding the base ? Cheers

Krends mono is now not really a mono as they don't sell it as a one coat system, they always spec a base I'm led to believe.id rather use other brands over fresh blockwork to save on the base coat.parex, weber, etc, etc:)

K Rend FT or K1 straight onto medium density 7nm block is perfectly fine and there's a spec for it as I have it on my PC. There's been a bba approved spec for ft straight onto block for longer than most of the others have even existed.

They all recommend optional priming which makes sense given the mostly s**t sucky blocks of today.

Better products on the market as said , some think K rend is the only one

Some think that things today are exactly the same as they were years ago too.

To be fair I don't think any of the big uns make a bad product anymore.

Just dont like the coverage rate of it Jim, with the prices similar to Parex and Weber per bag(in my neck of the woods anyway) id be losing out using it.Having said that, the product looks the dogs when done right.

Whatever the punters ask for. The spec changer tends to be the last pick and the only way to win jobs is be the cheapest.

No thanks.

I carry around samples for them all and ain't afraid to show them when asked either.

Bingo, a nicely done K Rend job with the sparkles and slightly more open texture is appealing to customers when pointed out. I get about 0.8m2 a bag at finished 15mm

Parex is a pain in the ass to get a warranty on smaller jobs, even then only 10 years. Nice and fluffy to apply obviously full of air but in my opinion a little slab like on the wall. It wouldn't be the first choice on my house if looks were the only consideration. I'm partial to the bright white though.

Weber no problem, a touch strong and it might be me, but more prone to cracks appearing? Don't get much more coverage than K Rend that I've noticed.

I do charge more to apply Silicone renders, because why not? I've only used E Grade but not worried about giving the other a squirt when the opportunity arises.

We only apply to spec, leave the rest to the cowboys and armchair scientists.

Your the top man !,being asking you for any info from now on ,thanks for you input

My only tip is build a test wall somewhere and any gear you ain't sure about buy (or scrounge bust bags!) a few bags and fire em through the machine.

At least you turn up on site with half a clue!
