I have just taken on a job which is in a large listed house .....
The guy wants all the work to be traditional lime onto laths. I told him I have no experience in this but he just told me to go for it on a day rate.

Any pointers guys would be most helpful

thanks
Rich

Up here we have a company called historic scotland who can spec all work like that for free I don't no if there is an english version look it up and see

Hi RIch what kind of lime you talking about putty or NHL , i suspect putty, it is all available from specialist suppliers ready prepared, bagged up nothing difficult about it just takes a bit of time, great job to have on daywork to get a bit of experience. There is loads of info on the web try Mike Wye he has a website havent looked at it for a while but used to be some info on it, oh and it dont like cold weather.

Get a good day rate this is specialist work rich ,go and see your local supplier he will tell you more than we can .

call cornish lime company rich its here in bodmin and they are the closest to u, speak to phil brown he will answer all ur questions and any advice u need

You need to be very carefull mate, its not about the aplication, thats pretty much the same as gypsum.

Its all about the prep and after care, controling the drying and wetting down etc, this is crucial as the lime will fail.

Theres various courses you can go on, 1 or 2 day long.

I advise you do one of them to be on the safe side matey.

there is a guy down cornwall his name is mike wye he has a company in devon called mike wye and associates he sells and trains people in lime putys if u explain what the job is he will give ya all the info u need nice guy 01409 281644 dont think his courses are expensive either but do ring him there nothing he dont no ;D
