i decided yesterday(mon),after some pressure from the builder,to lay on a small gable(35m2)even though it was -1,i cracked on and layed it on.when i finished laying on,a small layer of frost stared to settle on the face of the k-rend then to make matter`s worse,i woke up this morning to a foot of
snow.i also supplied materials!!!will the k-rend hold back until it defrosts is it fcuked?

I cant believe you let a stupid fu**ing builder talk you into this are you absolutley mental.... or very inexperienced... nieve... i dont know... all your labour and materials have been wasted and your credibility as a spread has gone... no one in their right mind puts render on under 5c and its now reaching up to -12c around the country... you should have told the wa**er builder to stick the gable end where the son doesnt shine and walked away.... dont mean to be slagging you off but as a spread you really should know better

its not ideal but if it helps you can use a blow torch on it to thaw out enough to finish it(scrape). got me out of the s**t couple of weeks ago. the fact that it then re-froze and then thawed out gradually(but finished) did not effect it cosmetically. just a tip if you encounter a frozen wall the next morning and you cant risk missing your finishing window of opportunity for any reason.

You must be nuts also goody.... the simple fact that the render froze means its F**KED

I've had k-rend freeze over night mate, waited till it thawed the next day and it cut back and never had a problem with it, however the way the temps are at present it aint gonna thaw anytime soon, sorry :(

back in 2003, my old man and I were working on a job doing sand and cement with a wet dash over it plus the scratch coat. The weather was cold as f**k. He had another mate there, a guy who'd been doing spreading for about 40 years and often they'd argue about the temp. When we started at 8 it was usually about -1 or 2 but it'd pick up by 10. Tons of sand froze, water in the hose froze etc. On his call we done the job and it's still there 7 years later.

I'm not saying it's right to do it, if it were me I wouldn't have but it wasn't my job. And when f**k**g around with stuff like K rend I'd never deviate from manufacturers specs. If it's bollocksed you've lost time and money and the builder has lost f**k all. You should've got a check from him covering your day and mats before you started it or told him to ram it.

Agreed 100%

If it goes right theres no harm done, but when it goes wrong, all fingers point to you, the builder will claim you never told him of the potential problem.

All builders are lying f*ckers, they are the only people in the world who can make estate agents seem decent people.

I did a sunroom on a gable end of a house last new year and temp was about the same, layed it on in afternoon and came back next morning, it was solid but kept on scraping and the two corners had no beads. Have to say the corners were perfect due to them bein frozen, but the temp started comin up and it was soft as butter in no time.
Been back to job a few times and it's tiptop....Some things have to be done to move onto next job..

If a builder or some other pr++k asked to do this I would have asked for a written Instruction, then see how quick they'd reconsider
