level 3 solid

Anyone recently done level 3 advance in solid.

I enderstand that part of the course is forming a circular pilar, but what else is covered? Is it a lot of external moulds and arches?

Finished the c&g at the same time as an anq (I think) level 2 couple of years back. You?

yep did mine about 9 year ago.


[all solid work]practical -
circular colums
curved wall
setting out pillars ie a line of three
barrel ceiling
you do do a bit of fibrous, i did a running in situ cornice, repair, made ceiling roses, made a fire place. gothic arch etc.

theve just recently changed the nvq3 though and you do a bit of ashlar rendering now and k rend brick.

Sounds like handy stuff to know. Wasted half of level 2 doing fibrous, proper tedius. Anyone know of any books containing these more complicated solid stuff as heinerman don't do a level 3. Can't find any colleges near london doing advanced either
