Hi guys anyone got any hints on rendering light weight blocks?? I was intending on using a sbr/cement/sand slurry first because suction is ridiculous with these, Im assuming soaking the wall too much is a bad idea, due to different drying times and shrinkage? Would it be worth adding any lime in the render for bit of flexability or is it not needed? Any help appreciated.

There is loads of info on this subject if you do a search, you'll find what you need, there is even an how to guide covering this

I would lightly dampen down, sbr scud coat as in sbr at 5 to 1 used in sand cement slurry at three to one sand to cement, scratch coat the next day. mix ratio 5 sand to one cement with waterproofer but not much and plastiser, 5 days later after keeping it damp add second coat mixed at 6/1/1 sand cement lime, i also put fibres in both coats, two handfuls per mix in scratch, one handful in second, i also put mesh in scratch coat but most wont..

I wouldn't bother with the scud but the rest is just about exactly how I'd do it.

If it is sand and cement then I would sbr it first with a slurry or at least neat sbr one coat dried and another wet if you are on the lazy side.
