Lime plaster

Hi, my husband and I have purchased a house that has old lime plaster, when we bought it the walls were covered in wallpaper. Hiding the damaged lime underneath.. it has blown in a few areas. We are looking into dot and dab. Would you recommend taking all the lime off back to the brick before applying plasterboard?
there is a decent bow that runs through the central part of all the walls which is making it hard to get it straight. we’ve had a lot of different opinions from plasters. But the rooms are coming up at around £900 a room to fix up. We want to keep the costs down really, but also don’t want to do a dodgy job of the walls, any advice would be great! Thank you!

Sounds like you have to ask yourself what is the end result you really want?
If it is a modern flat level wall on every wall in every room then pay top dollar for it or buy a modern house.
As with many things - it all depends!
I've taken off blown plaster patches before and ended up taking the lot off and then dot and dabbing with new boards.
I'd say if the blown area is more than 15-20% of total wall area take the lot off defo. If under that ratio patch it. (That is if you can tolerate a patched uneven result)
You can board the whole thing over as is sometimes and lose 30mm on room length width
You'll make the right choice in the end I'm sure. Your gut will play a part in it.
These forums can make you more confused sometimes...
