Got an old concrete lintel above a window to plaster. I've scraped off the old cracked plaster to reveal a badly cracked but reasonably solid beam. What's the best way to plaster over it? The coat i scraped back was fairly thin and it was white. The building dates back to the 30's. :-\

cheers flynny. A board is out as it's too thick. looks like a tight bonding coat. Do you think i'd get away with bonding and multi mixed together? Yeeeehaw!! ;D

light score(4" grinder with general purpose diamond blade), lattice trowel, wba and skim ;)

Sounds good mate but that's all time and there's not a lot of money in it! Cheers.

NEXT!!!!

Or you could just WBA, tape up cracks, tight bonding & skim ;)

Tile it!! in all honesty mate this should be just as quick as putting a tight coat of bonding, followed by a skim. What about Uni-One coat (get out the sponge float!!) Nice!!

Aye of course i will use 2 coats. But a coat of bonding on a small area means hanging around and the jobs not got enough in it to justify spending too much or waiting too much!! Er, i probably shouldn't have taken it on but.....i love working 8)

I think you've been given most if not all the options mate, It,s up to you now? if theres not enough money on the job to do it properly with no or little risk, it's proberbly not worth doing, but if you do good luck Casper ;)

At last we've reached a conclusion. It's what i planned originally- Tight bonding then a tight multi. I'll just need to take it on the chin ;D cheers

Well, it's done now. A good 2 coats of PVA. Plenty of fibatape, 2 thincoat beads and 2 coats of multi dust. Bloody perfect ;D
