Hello, new on here, not sure if it breaks any rules but I'm looking for someone who knows what they are doing to make repairs to a painted stucco fronted house in Belsize Pk, London.
I'm a decoator and want the repairs done before I do my work. Hope to start 1st week of Aug latest. 4 stories, front elevation only will be scaffolded.
Decorative mouldings around windows defective, porch pillars and some flat work etc.
I can send photos but its a typical house of the area.
Two of my best customers live there so I want a job that will last!
Any advice greatfully received as time is running out. I had a guy come down 2 months ago who gave me a good quote, but I cant get hold of him now.

Many thanks, steve

if its in belsize park it would be rustication on the front elevation up to first floor probably

As you say Gibbo, rustication is the key word for the elaborate stucco works of many London villas. ( deffinetely lime)

Below is a link to a superb article written by Ian Constantinedes of St Baize, whom I had the pleasure of meeting during a Building Limes Forum AGM a few years ago.
Exterior Stucco

Hi Guys, no rustication on this property except vermiculation on the quoin stones but they don't need repairs. I'm sure it will have had a lot of repairs in its 150 yrs using sand and cement.
Where should I look to find qualified person?
Thanks

Hi its called london stucco should be repaired properly with lime mortar cement repair will cause major damp problems

Totally wrong steve

Using a a quality (not Leighton buzzard ) sand, sharper than soft washed with fibres, no feb, float finished then flattened over with steel trowel to nap finish will sort this problem.

Every 20mm plus coat should include SS EML

Can't help you at the minute mate but I've got a mate who is top class at ashlar type stucco. I'll find his number over the next couple of days

Fibres? no feb mix... this wasnt on the market when these houses were built... what was used was lime mortar with horse hair as a binder and water to stop suction... not slagging you off mate just telling it how it is unless you know that repairs in london can be done otherwise

Steve, let's skim s+c in sirapite. Times have changed mate. Did one in Connaaught square about 3 yrs ago, told me it wouldn't stand the test of time. Pointed out I did the house next door by one, now owned by Tony Blair 16 yrs ago.

I know what I'm talking about mate

Ha i worked in connaought square years ago also for a company called hastingwood estates on a mansion house conversion into a hotel they put a 6th or 7th floor on it and i did all the plastering and external mouldings... happy times
