alright chaps
I see a while back about a bloke who had done some skimming and had some spots come through once dry sort of looked like oil I've literally had the same thing happen to me and wanted to see the advice on that thread but can't find it,I know for certain I be asked what it is but basically I've never had/seen it before and I'm a plasterer not a scientist,it was a skim over artex in a kitchen ceilings only used gypbond to seal first then skim if anyone knows name of thread let me know cheers chaps

Will be either nicotine or chip fat mate...

What customer needs a product called stain block by dulux etc

You apply 1 coat which draws all the stain out then apply a 2nd coat which seals it all then paint as normal bud

Cheers zombie I was thinking along them lines of cooking fat myself but as I hadn't seen it before but knew there was a thread on here about it,handy advice mate I know stain block will be alright but will any oil based paint stop it? Mis-coat like normal then stain block?

Yeah zombie is right. Defo nicotine or grease
Cheers mate I've done thousands of artex ceilings over the years and never seen it before finish is nice just spots look terrible on it I knew I had seen a thread before just wanted to read back over it cheers for your help

Vans never had fancy AC or electric windows back then.....or heating !!

Best thing I see once was behind a p100 van (the ford Sierra pick up thing) it had the roof back off but with a tarp over it all of a sudden I see a hand come out and pull it back down as it was blowing up a bit was on the motorway though amused me your get strung up for that sort of thing now

Fuuck all that now.
Seen enough of accidents this week when it snowed abit.

Totally agree mate I rarely go over 70 cos like you seen a few bad ones and got 2 good mates one a fireman and one a paramedic the things they tell me is enough to have a re think was the sprinter you lot got in one of the first sprinter vans the ones that went like a rocket I think they lowered the top speed after them models

Madness picked up 5.30 home at 8 lads sleeping in wheel barrows in the back....the driver was f**k**g exhausted.
I was earning £180 a day at 22 years old bashing houses for some lad taking the price in a gang.
never bothered me then.

Yeah I done all that out from a Thursday night work Friday then on one all weekend even went to work after no sleep on a Saturday now that would never happen when I was what you said 22 I was still knocking up for 3 spreads beading scrim up load out and get a cupboard on as well I look back and think how did I actually do that then we got a young lad and I moved up but took him ages to pick up basics glad I ain't on site now in the recession prices were criminal under paid on price and what finally killed me off was that gang who turned up with ply on a ironing board as a spot board and stand it really done me in

I think I was thrown straight into the deep end on the tools.....4 years of labouring for gangs then I told em fuuck this or im off....think I earned some respect as labouring on a good few spreads is a trade on its own !!
Working them hours everday youve no choice but to pick it up.
Labourers nowadays are pathetic.
They think mixing finish and cleaning multi is a job.

I have tried a few and a few firms I do a bit for have tried giving me young lads to teach and to show them the way now I say I'd rather work alone or have another plasterer with me cos it's less stress thing is I'm pretty laid back with them cos I got taught hard way but these kids just ain't got it the classic I like is when they say first thing what time will we be finishing normally I say when we finished and work an extra hour to piss them off lol

Pagey that's exactly wat i do..nowt worse than a young wipper snapper asking wat time there finishing on day or day after..i work over just to piss them off like you..

Not sure about that pagey bud...

Good stuff mind...yoused to have a contract for a kitchen firm and used to come across it every now and then...

I'll tell you summet puts you off smocking cigs for life when its nicotine it tends to physically blead through the plaster whilst your putting it on and troweling up...

First time I came across it was customer from hell it was great to find out it was nothing to do with the plastering...

I believe if you recognise its there before you plaster best way to avoid is sugar soap mate...

Youl tend to notice the nicotine ones as it literally turns your PVA roller yellow
