Hi all and firstly a big hello, been reading many of the posts on this forum for a while now so, go easy on me for probably asking the same questions as 1000's before!

Having recently left the forces, i'm in the early stages of setting up as a sole trader in the business. Although I was spreading years ago with my old man (for my pocket money, or slave labour......???), I never got any formal qualifications so thought I'd pay a company (Who I won't name) a lot of money to bring me up to speed as I've not really done anything worth mentioning for a while, apart from the odd room for friends/ family etc. I can honestly say it was a waste of time and money.....to give an example, I'm 5'6 and didn't need a hop up to board and skim the ceiling in the 'training bay' and the walls were so damp they had virtually no suction!

Anyway, not wanting to rave on too much about that slight problem, My weak points remain, and they are external finishes, sand/ cement, k-rend. So, having learnt diddly squat through the unnamed company, I'd like to pimp myself out.....FOC in return for some OJT. Im in the somerset area, have own tools and transport. I'd rather work for someone in the real word for nothing than pay another penny to the un-named training academy for a 'specialist' external finishes course!

I know im not going to become an expert over night or after one job however in my opinion, the only way I'll get better is by getting my hands dirty and getting stuck in......in the real world.

So, if anyone thinks they have room for me....pls get in touch.

Oh, thanks for reading my 1st post!

welcome along Hairybear, there are a few Somerset spreads on here, keep posting and stay inlvolved and you will bump into one soon enough. best of luck bud :RpS_thumbsup:

Thanks guys......been busy going through the forum these last few days, I hope I can give a little back as there's plenty of good stuff on here.....

I must admit though, some of the blogs frighten the living day lights out of me, I was just reading a post where a guy had 'forgotten' how many layers of muck to lay up on a ceiling...........REALLY!!

Good comedy value though........
