my cousins fella wants 2 bedrooms over skimming over artex with turn ceilings .. there first house they have bought . he has a good job but is persistently saying that he is skint ? i havent met anyone who has been as tight as this t**t and who cry's about everthing.. i put a price 200 a room plus mats which i got of the job am on .. told him to remove all wall paper and radiators .. turns up satday at 8oclock waited til half 8 then he turns up ... saying i havent took the wall paper off the walls but it wont take long will it you could give me a hand an then you can start your plastering its simple..we'll i told him you'll have to pay me 150 for the day for the wall paper removal an so on. he just laughed thinking i was taking the piss so i told how much of a w**k*r he was an how the **** did he'd think i would drive 8 miles to help him out for nothing... well there has been murder now ....and i could'nt give a fook.xx
 
well am lying a bit i wast'nt so harsh. only because its my cousin am gonna do the job but am still fuming .. i do think some people think we have the best paid job and its easy work..thats what infuriates me ...

i just told him that the price has changed now on the 2 rooms.. forgot how akward them turns can be so ive arranged to have another look. then said if you want to get another plasterer in thats fine because you know am very busy .:)

general rule of thumb,never work for friends of family cos they usually want it done for nowt, had loads of arguments over years about it.
 
Exact same happened to me couple years back, old Army buddy was wanting his kitchen and two upstairs bedroom skimmed went gave him the price told him the script about the wallpaper and everything else in the upstairs rooms to be cleared out be round on sat morn at 8, no probs he said got there his lot are all still in bed and not a bit of wallpaper removed worst of it to i had stuck a decent cash paying job on the back burner for this. So i dissapear told him to phone me when its ready i.e next week but he phones me at half 3 askin me to go and start told him to ram it and he gets rowdy saying he has wasted a day stripping wallpaper:RpS_scared:

Arse, anyways went and done it 2 wks later and charged him a small fortune which he payed much to my satisfaction:RpS_biggrin:
 
fking T***s some people - the couple of jobs ive done for friends i always call em the night before and say "wall paper all off?" & "room clear?" if the answer to either of those is no i say "let me know when it is then"... feck getting up and travelling for feck all... it takes the piss cos normally for family/friends you'll already doing it for a reduced rate anyway!
 
i replastered a whole 2 bed house for the in-laws on the promise of some "pennys" when they had some as they where desperate to sell up and move on. Did the job, they sold the house ex council house which they paid next to nothing for and they to date have given me sweet fa. In fact i was about £150 down on petrol money in the end.

haha in laws keep trying to get me into do some work for them they want thier whole 2 bed house skimmed and the entire outside of it re rendered, but as soon as we get round to talking figures the gum sucking starts and the ol we aint got much money to be honest.
makes me laff cos i know exactly how much they both earn and what thier outgoins are too so i knew from the start they couldnt afford it so i went round explaining all the work we could do and how nice it could be once it was done then thrw a price at them and watch thier face turn haha. think im gonna do all they for nout but a promise, think again pal
 
As owls said, never work for friends and family, it's a simple as that, they all take the piss, you end up losing your rag in the end. I just say i'm too busy when they ask.
