Hi guys,

just thought I'd get u guys to comment on what's the best trowel on the market. What do u prefer to use and how u do it.
I lay my first n second with the Marshall then give 2 trowels with the plastic refina then a polished 3rd bk to the Marshall.

Am I doing this wrong is ther a better method or is ther a better trowel that I don't kno about

Marshalltown is still the best trowel that I use, I apply with it, flatten with it, second with it then flatten with it, then I use my refina s*p*r*lex ,better than plastic and easier on the bones, but you have to be careful as it might not be as good as your normal finish if you don't keep a close eye on it..

Yeah, one fat coat, speedy, sponge, couple plazzis. This is great if you want a sh1t finish, either that or get someone else to do it.

i finish with a s*p*r*lex but i dont think there will ever be a day when i dont have a least a couple of mts in my kit

Well worth having a look at the NELA Range, the build quality is exceptional and the reviews have also been amazing. MT is always going to be hard to beat, the reputation is amazing. We believe NELA is currently a big competitor in the UK for MT and are confident it will only get better.

The beauty about NELA is that they are quite a small company and they will listen to what the trade wants. If they needed to improve things or change things they would happily do so.

Similar to asif. First and second and lay down with MT. Then tart it up with nela s*p*r*lex. The s*p*r*lex does require less work and gives a nice finish

Quite a lot Arti, find it just needs another pass once it's firmed up a bit more with the trowel opened up more.

maybe your getting on a bit early ? let it pull in a bit... are you using refina or nela ? should be the same though...

What day are you going @cassie. I'm there on the Friday.
@Arti. I've had them once two week ago on a big stair wall. Didn't give it a thought it could have been the trowel. Got my MT out to get rid of bubbles and trowelled up with s*p*r*lex again.

never had bubbles in mine and ive been using one for ages

I normally leave it 10 mins after av layed in and trowel it up with very little pressure so i dont take any glut off. It doesnt happen all the time like so fu@k knows why. Beddy mentioned it before i got the s*p*r*lex off him. Would be good to narrow down what is causing it though

No idea mate.. thats a mystery then.. i basically do the same as you, but 10 mins after laying down is just a flattener... try doing that, then leaving it to pull in longer before going over it again ? thats what i do and had no probs.. is that with multi or board ?

have two MT, 18 inch carbon and 14 inch stainless. never use them anymore. they're like the atari or betamax of my trowels. another story of a large company becoming complacent and relying simply on their brandname. wish the superflexs from nela and refina had arrived years ago.
