Have noticed a significant rise in the costs of materials since 20% vat increase board finnish now at £5.54 a bag cheaper if you by 5 but all materials seem to have rocketed in price especially wood, plaster.I know fuel costs have gone up and the extra vat on fuel and haulage but it does seem to me that costs have gone up considerably more than the few % they should have.
I bought some cls timber the other day £3.50 a length only a year ago that was £1.99 a length its getting expensive nowdays.

iv been after 6 pallets of hardwall, and my accounts at tp and sheffins wont give me them for under £7 a bag. so i thought right, sod it, im gonna get a delivery from b and q. so when i ring, the thick **** that answers the phone doesnt no what hardwall is, the goes on to tell me they dont sell it. after a debate, im then told i cant order it over the phone unless the card is registered to the same address as the delivery address. after explaining that i dont live on the building site im told i have to go to the store. i explained the store is 2 hours from my house. so they say ok, u can do it online. i then tried but it wouldnt give me the discount. im then told theyre not doing the discount this week. at this point i lost the plot as they have been doing the 20% thing for years. ended up putting down the phone, went onto the wickes site, all ordered at £6 per bag inc vat for tuesday. lovely
