Moisture resistant boards

I was always told you cant (or should'nt) direct bond moisture resistant boards to walls and that they should always be attached to a framework, be it timber or MF

Can someone please explain why - dunno why I didn't ask when I was first told - Is it anything to do with its moisture repelling qualities ?? If so, surely thats on the green face isnt it, not the back where the adhesive goes ??

im in a rush (jsut about to pop out) but try this link, should shed some light on it Link Removed

not 100 percent certain but i think mr board is down the core of the board... the waxed coating on a normal board just slows down the suction, an mr board's core doesnt have any? so it wouldnt matter if you tried to stick anything to the front or the back?
never heard that you cant d+d with it though, only not skim without gypbond.. maybe gypbond the back then go for it?

You can dot and dab British gypsum Gyproc moisture resistant boards.
but you cant dot and dab lefarge boards !

Id agree with the last post some you can some you cant MR board is as strange thing it would seem
