Mono over block/brickwork

I've never sprayed/applied mono straight over brickwork or block without base coat and meshing it first, but i have seen alot of lads doing this. What's your opinions on this ? Is this good practise? Or is there a risk that all the mortar joints will show through.

It's no problem doing it. Just make sure the block work is not soaking wet.
