Now Then, When i use mono i always have trouble getting enough gear up to soffits, window sills etc. I can get the gear up there but as im flattening it out it trowels away from said soffits, facia boards, etc.

Tried using drier gear but its not always possible, is it my poor trowel skills or is there a nak to this.

Cheers

I've used my bucket trowel and gauger on awkward soffit areas and where is difficult to spread with a trowel. I use alsorts of stuff and not bothered so long as the end result it right

Same as applying any other thick coat.

Start right work left, apply the top band pushing the gear up and sliding the trowel to the right as you hit the soffit, leave it till ruling. To fill any hollows along the very top don't trowel it on, flick it up there off the toe of the trowel.

you are knocking it up to wet mate ,once you have ruled then leave it for a bit, trowel in the low points , your i section will take out any over built out areas ,don,t give up mate :RpS_thumbup:

As welsy said .... As u no i aint done mono mate but with sand cement u can trowel up ways to it .... Squeeze in the top of the trowel when u hit the soffit or sill then run along sideways with the nose ..... Dunno if its the same to put on as sand cement though ....

Just out of interest keith, does it happen when your spraying with wet gear and your ruling it ?

Yes mate ,but we still hand ball it as well ,done one job few years back now 860m2 by hand ,when you spray it is much wetter, try making it a bit dryer or leave it to stand for a bit ,hard on the arms but us southerners can deal with that ,and have a lager & lime in the other hand :RpS_wink:

When I remember I put a band of material upto the soffit and under the sills before I lay the rest of wall on. Works for me. Or if you don't mind getting a bit on the soffit take you're rule up the wall and across the soffit if that makes sense.

I mask soffits and sills and rule up onto them so it leaves an excess of gear over the masking and bead line then drop back and spat it sideways down.

Mono always wants to slump downward but if you have enough up there it should finish up just right once troweled

if you work from left to right you will find it goes on better as your working into stuff youve applied already putting a stop bead under any sills helps
