Hi

We have a very small gable end which needs to be monocouched. The plasterer keeps saying he will send someone over to do it for 6 months now and i am loosing the will to live with it. If not dealt with soon i could get into further problems with leaks into the house. I paid in installments but since he found out he needed to reboard over the plywood, he said he would come back a week later.

How much would this roughly cost to get done by someone else?
Winter is here and i am worried about having further issues with leaks if this isnt resolved.

I am considering cement rendering it to speed the process of getting this resolved.

Currently its covered to keep it dry

Monocouche Gable Ply

Chelmsford, Essex way...

Should be Monocouched but i am tempted to go for a cement based render to get it done..

So about 1k for a small 2m x 1m gable?

Stuart Kilner at Uk Plastering Machines Ltd will know the Essex renderers. Too small for Stuart but he will help you find someone.

Do not render directly to the Ply - whatever render you choose.... the ply will slowly rot and twist and cause much bigger problems later...

As @plasterjfe says above, do the job right first time and membrane, batten and board before rendering. Looking at the photo, you need to batten and board away from the flat roof membrane return anyway.

Get in touch with @essexandy or Stuart @UKPlasteringmachines to get local assistance and local pricing. (I have tagged their Forum names to this post, they may come on and reply, or you can click these tags and go to their profile and find contact details for them there)

Whatever you do, do not take someone saying it will cost £1k on here and say that to whoever comes along - ask to see some similar work or for references before appointing them!

Good Luck
