Hi
Is multi setting quicker these days or is it time to hang up mi trowel?

Been plastering on and off for past 40 years and always used Thistle board for dry lining. When multi came in, i started using it for bigger walls when working alone as it set slower.

Just doing a small job using multi on plasterboard and it seems to be becoming unworkable on the ligger before I can get it on the wall! Seems ok on 2 coats and trowels up fine, but it just seems to be going off quicker on the ligger than it used to.

Anyone else noticed or am I just slowing down.

Thanks

I did a job yesterday using multi and it seemed to hang wet for ages! I drank all my flask of tea, walked to the shop next door and bought some sausage rolls and a bottle of coke, I wish it had set quicker coz I felt sick as **** afterwards

old terminology for spot board - still used in some colleges just to confuse the learners even more :RpS_thumbsup::RpS_lol:

are there really people want to learn plastering ? all joking aside ?

Well i had one with me today @Tommy5, hes completed his college, keen as, and on top of that a top lad with the right attitude, a credit to his tutor. if the colleges can churn out lads like these, then the futures bright.

Now then Barnsley. Anybody who went to Barnsley Building Tech in early 70s would remember the plastering lecturers name was Des O'Conner. Anyone under 40 please ignore this thread. Oh yes and a ligger is the correct name for a "spot board" Apologies for the confusion. I am feeling older still!!!

Sorry church. These tools are of great sentimental not to mention antique value. No foreign stainless here. Old skool Tyzak and rusty as F..k. I won't go below a fiver!!

he retired about 5 years ago

Yep. Des was a good guy. I also remember Norman. Has he been at Barnsley Tech all these years?
