I had a whole pallet of gear like that about 15 years ago. We got the BG rep. out mixed a bucket up, stood there chatting to him for about four minutes and then invited him to get the f**k*r out of the bucket, he couldn't budge it and we got another free pallet of gear out a day later. This occurred about the time of year that they apparently start messing with the amount of retarder used with gypsum.

weird stuff this retarder innit? Had me thinking why does stuff go off - is it the retarder that degrades or summat?

thought you was gonna say that, only used it once and it seemed very loomy if ya get me, but it did seem to go further

it takes a bit of getting used 2. but when u get in 2 it. its hard 2 go back to multi.
thats what the french said when they got involved with the Germans lol

it seem to mix funny aswell, saying that their board adhesive does too, its like sticky stuf (hard to explain unless youv used it i suppose)

with no fanny sludge marks
must say it does look good though, might be because im used to the thristle colour though
is it just me or does it give you more time to Finnish it? (too long sometimes id say)

i spray it immediately trowel flat. after 45min trowel it no water.after 30min trowel it little water after 30min dry trowel and that is it. 2 coats by hand.

Not that issue but had a job last week where it was real sticky to trowel up n dragging and tearing, I usually think Im just losing me marbles though, but Im sure the gear aint always perfect.

Been thinking about it today, had some tear on me, but I reached the conclusion that it's probably down to us more than anything else. Going on it too soon, not getting the suction sorted properly, pva not going tacky, different temperatures, humidity etc

It's all made in a friggin factory, it's not like some poor **** sneezed when they were adding the retarder is it?

Or is it!!

Thing is Twitcher, we do this job day in day out, and randomly some days it just dont go to plan and dont work.. with all the same prep, same room temp, everything, surely it can be down to manufacturer and bad batches? but you're same as me.. just blame yaself generally, makes you think though.

When you're working on site with full pallets of gear you get to use that whole pallet through different conditions and on different backgrounds, so when one pallet works nicely through the variations and the next pallet works like a dog right the way through the pack, you just know it's not you.

funny thing is that with most stuff we buy as consumers, like beer for instance, it takes the same and does the same thing. Even the water we drink gets tested frequently throughout the day. Why is plaster any different, why can't they churn out the same stuff day in day out?

Moaner! Or what? Communist perhaps! In Russsia Putin executes workers in the plaster mines that don't keep the finish consistent. "Power to the people".

always check the dates on the bags, anything within a month of the date on the bag has a chance of going off quickly, depends on the storage conditions, have to agree with a few posts , when they say there is the odd bag that goes off quickly, but you ave also got to make sure you dont over mix it, with these power tools we use these days its easily done.
