Hello Chaps,

My NVQ assessor come out to see me on monday, for my first assessment. Who on here has done it?

I need some tips and some advice on the old portfolio.

If I was staying in the UK I wouldnt be bothered about the paperwork but I am off round the world in april with not a great intention on coming back so as much paperwork I can get will just help me on me travels.

Portfolio is a pain in the ass

ah cool! been throwing that idea around myself. oz and canada have render with a good wage. lots of tape and jointing about if you want to get into that. bit soul destroying though. is this a nvq course? and how much all in does it cost? anyways i wish you all the best. i will be checking in to see how you get on.
 
Nah not so mucha acourse its just evidence building and producing evidence you can do the job.

The portfolio is the worst bit so far... doing mainly domestic a lot of the stuff they want is un obtainable

anything in particular? i want to try and do the NVQ through college when i fnish this year

I would have thought the domestic side would have won whatever it is your trying to do?
Sites are easy, although hard graft. Domestic is hard, with more attention to detail, plus hard graft. :D
 
just go about your normal day mate, i did it last year, piece of pi$$. At the end of the day hes not there to tell u how to do your job, so if ur pretty confident with urself u ll fly through mate
 
Well he arrived about half 10 and I was getting fooked on a ceiling....lol looked ok.

He watched me skim dnd ect he is very happy he coming out 1 more time to see me skim a wall then I will have the neccessary paperwork

hi danny, i've just spoken to an assessor this morning about osat and will be meeting them in a couple of weeks to see what the score is. they said i need to start to get a mixture of photos and references together to show them. what sort of stuff have you got in your portfolio?

level 2 solid plastering, i don't often take pics of my work so i'm not sure how much i can do on references alone....
 
lol the biggest problem I have is getting me in the photos... that is what they are looking for.

I went to leicester college.

The portfolio has photos of me skimming preparing backgrounds dnd ect ect just generally what you do day to day

The company i was working for put me through my osat nvq level 2 with preston college . The assessor was a ex joiner by trade he did not have a clue .. its not hard they do most of it for you they just take picks mine was of a wall i dab'd on day before took photo as though i had  just done it  :-/ . i did do it like but some one else could have he wouldnt have known that . and a few pics moving bags correctly and skimming well its not hard is it . and the health and safety is easy for your cscs card . the citb do a cdrom disc and the voice and the quetions is exactly the same as the actuall test so a few goes on that and you will pass 100%..
so if your doing your osat dont worry about it its only a few pics and questions he the assessor answers for you nearly . any one off street could pass it if you ask me ......  ;D
 
ALL WE NEED NOW IS SOME JOBS . COS THERE IS NONE WHERE I AM . COUNTRY WELL SCREWD AND AS IT LOOKES ITS GOING TO BE A COUPLE OF YRS TILL WE SEE ANY ECONMIC GROWTH .... I KNEW I SHUD OF BEEN A PORN STAR !! :-*
THERES ALWAYS THE DOLE OFFICE . WHOOP WHOOP I WOULDNT BOTHER !!
