New to this - sorry if this should have been asked in a different forum but this seemed to be the busiest.
We've moved into a flat recently, the living room was wallpapered all round so we decided to remove it all so we could paint. 2 of the walls were fine, and using a steamer the paper came off like butter off a knife and left a good wall behind.
However...
The other 3 walls were not so good. The wallpaper came off, however what was underneath is this...
It looks like either plasterboard or a really thick lining paper, its smooth in some areas but when moisture applied it flakes a bit. I've tried using a steamer on it for a long time but even with a steamer and scraping it is taking hours to do a very small section and when it is done it is causing damage to whatever is underneath as it seems to soften?
I have no idea what these layers are, which is plasterboard or lining paper. If. i try and remove whatever this is, it will literally take me about 3 weeks of non-stop work.
Is there any solution to this?
