My sister at work

JessThePlasterer

Queen Jess Elizabeth I
My sister is an orthotist . So she takes casts of children’s legs, arms, spines , feet etc and makes them splints and braces to correct what troubles them or make them more comfortable.

She uses casting plaster and forms all these casts and moulds by hand. She’s a very talented lady!

She just sent me this video! They now have a new toy! She can scan a patient with a lazer thing and then the computer sends dimensions to the lathe and it carves them! This is her daughters head!

Ask her if she'll make me a pallid bust of Pallas to perch above my chamber door.

Perch. And sit. And nothing more.

I'm serious.

Was talking to norm about 3D printing for detailed work , so am curious if her set up is a more expensive option , assume that the turnaround speed is the factor
Ps does she do requests , asking for stevio

No she works for a private company who the nhs often refers patients to. And this machine is new so this is her using it for the first time as a practice run before using it for her actual patients

Yeah it’s a very expensive machine. I doubt your average fibrous plasterer would fork out for one. It would take a very long time to make a return on it (y)

Don't see why they need specialist casts anyway. Why can't the little spakkers just wear callipers like a when I went to school?

You’re terrible!! If only they had specialist machines when you were a lad! Could’ve gotten you all straightened out and squared away! Damn shame

Take more than a lathe to straighten me out.

You know that.

Want to come axe throwing on deansgate next weekend?

Are you literally throwing axes and would you be willing to stand still with an apple on your head? Your answer determines my answer :coffe:
