have to do a nap finish over a wall that had been pebble dashed, the dashing has been chipped off but the background still looks very smooth to me,seems like whoever done the chipping didn't get right under the dashing leaving couple of mil of that coat flattened onto wall, would like to get it kangoed better but the job is for a builder that wants it done asap, any ideas

I worked with a couple of Irish spreads years ago, they reffered to nap finish on render. Fast and rough, I think it was stippled with a brush.

i know bubbles :RpS_thumbup: i had a guess but i might be wrong if he comes back he can let us all in on the secret

Way back when, I heard of a floated S&C finish refereed to as "nap finish". And not a paddy in sight.

thats what i thought it was just floated render standard, is it this or the brush thing mark was on about??

it s a s and c mix with lime in u flout up as normal when it set a bit u bring it back with a spoung float and water and tap liteley with spoung float gives a stipple finish takes a long time to get good at

cheers plaster man thats exactly it,its what we do most, finish doesn't make a difference just bit worried bout the background, thinking of scud with pva then finish onto that, rather get 2 coats but it'll bring it out over reveal

Would you use a good portion of sharp/grit sand in it. Ive plastered internally in Ireland for an english architect I know on the Connamarra. The sand we used was quite coarse.
